“The New Design Museum” London book launch
Join us on 13 November for the London launch of Beatrice Leanza’s new publication “The New Design Museum: Co-creating the Present, Prototyping the Future”.
Beatrice’s book addresses how contemporary institutions of culture engage the transformed––and continually transforming––nature of design in the 21st century while adapting to the social, environmental and ethical demands of its planetary scope, in both practical and discursive dimensions.
By bringing together theories and voices from different geographical locations, the book integrates the author’s own essays, long-form colloquia with directors and chief programmers from established institutions and case studies that encompass independent organisations, initiatives and platforms, exploring an ever-expanding outlook on design as a field of research, practice and activism.
A panel discussion will take place with Beatrice, Justin McGuirk (Future Observatory – Design Museum), Brendan Cormier (V&A East and Storehouse), Neba Sere (Black Females in Architecture, decosm) and other guests about the future of design and museums, in their quest to remain relevant and impactful outlets of public engagement.
