What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file that is added to your computer by a website when you access a page. The cookie collects data on you as a website user, which is provided to the owner of the website or, in some cases, to other third parties.

What is the law around cookies?

When the Zaha Hadid Foundation uses cookies, we are subject to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations (PECR).

Which cookies are set automatically, and which are opt-in?

‘Essential’ cookies are set automatically when you browse our website. Their details are provided below. For all the other types of cookies we need your permission as an ‘opt-in’ to add them to your computer and obtain your data.

What cookies does the Foundation website collect and why?

On the Foundation website we collect:

ESSENTIAL – The purpose of these cookies is to make the website more reliable and secure and to make it easier for users to browse. The Foundation has a legitimate interest in using these cookies to support the effective running of its website.

Our website utilises Cookiebot, a cookie consent tool that helps websites comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It’s powered by usercentrics, a company that specialises in privacy management software.

ANALYTICS – The purpose of these cookies is to collect usage statistics to help us see how the site is performing, how many people are accessing it and which pages. The Foundation relies on your opt-in consent to use your data in its analytics.

_ga: The main cookie used by Google Analytics, which lasts for two years.
